  Come and join us for a Medley of activities to celebrate the Bank Holiday. To mark the occasion we have brought together two of our most popular events in one bumper celebration. We have:- Bowlore Ever wanted to shoot with a longbow? Here’s your chance! Bowlore will be in their medieval encampment for the Bank Holiday weekend and there will be sword fighting, archery displays, displays of armour and blunt weapons that can be tried on or handled by the public, Have-a-go sessions and talks on the longbow. Herb & Craft Fayre Come and enjoy the sights and smells of our Walled Herb Garden whilst browsing amongst the many craft & produce stalls. Refreshments available. Displays included in normal admission. Small charge for Have a go.

Talk Celtic Celebrations

  Many special days were celebrated by the Iron Age Celts. Four of these days were Imbolc a celebration of the end of winter, Beltaine the celebration of Spring, Lughnasad a celebration of the ripening of the corn and Samhain the Celtic Halloween. Join the Demetae Tribe as they celebrate these special days with activities, stories & face painting (50p per activity). To end the celebrations watch as the Wicker Man burns! 12noon - 4pm Imbolc: Bank Holiday Monday April 1st Beltaine: Bank Holiday Monday May 27th - extended celebrations starting at 12noon with a guided tour, activities from 2.00pm - 5.00pm, Celtic music from 5.00pm - 7.00pm and the burning of the Wickerman at 7.30pm Lughnasad: Bank Holiday Monday August 26th Samhain: Thursday October 31st

  What was life like in a castle in Tudor times? Come and find out for yourself as you join a member of Sir Rhys’ household and help with the task of the day. It could be painting your shield ready for the tournament or making bread ready for a banquet. Maybe practising your weaving or calligraphy. Contact the Castle to see what tasks are taking place This is a drop-in session where you can arrive anytime between the given times as long as you allow half an hour to complete your task .
